What it is

A limited edition Erhu made of Ming Qing Aged Rosewood by the late Erhu maker extraordinaire Wang Gen Xing and his disciple Yu Kai Ming from Zhejiang China.

The resonator with its snakeskin is done by the late Wang Gen Xing and the Erhu is finished up by Yu Kai Ming.

About the Maker

YKM, or Yu Kai Ming, is a renowned maker that was once commissioned by Xi Jinping to make an Erhu for the German Chancellor.

He learned his Erhu making under the late Wang Gen Xing – one of the great Erhu makers of the 90s.

After Wang Gen Xing passed away, Yu Kai Ming visited his home to pay his respects.

Wang’s wife told Yu Kai Ming that Wang left behind a stash of half finished Erhus without the neck and pegs.

Yu Kai Ming promptly took over the half finished Erhus and made them whole again, hence the birth of these Erhus.
