What it is

Concert grade Southern Xiaos (Nan Xiao) flute by Hangzhou maker Xie Bing.

Southern Xiaos bear some resemblance to the Japanese Shakuhachi, especially because of its roots.

It has 10 holes; 1 blow hole, 7 fingering holes, and 2 for tuning.

It produces a sweet and resonant tone close to that of the western flute, and the techniques used are similar to the normal Xiao and Shakuhachi.
